Design Process

I developed this game in my Core Lab Environments class in 2022. I want to explore on 2d platformer elements. My professor Stephen Judge introduced me to Fer2D, which was an intriguing package for creating unique platforms with wrapped materials.

 

One particular word that resonates with me is called Nyctophilia. Nyctophilia is defined as the condition of being very happy and comfortable in the dark. This word inspired me to create “Nyctophilia.” I first created a short story describing the background and your character.

Short Story

A girl named “Veronica” has been sitting in the dark for quite a while. Her world has been surrounded by darkness for 1,000 years. A white owl came out of nowhere and left her a white candle. The owl asks her for help to bring back light to the world so machines can work again.

Level Design

The first level I called “TreeRebirth.” This level let the player explore the realm of darkness that Veronica has woken up to since she wants to follow the white owl.
